Examinations and Grading Policy

Examinations:

Tests will cover material discussed in class and laboratory as wen as material presented in reading assignments and video presentations. Each exam will focus on material covered since the previous test. A portion of the final exam (approximately 50%) win cover material presented since the previous test. The rest of the final exam win be comprehensive.

Grading:

The three exams averaging 100 points each 300 points
Lecture and Laboratory Participation and Assignments 100 points
Laboratory Practical Examination 100 points
Final Examination 200 points

                83-86% = B
                80-82% = B-
                77-79% = C+
                70-76% = C
                60-69% = D
                below 60% = F

IF AN EXAMINATION IS MISSED, A VALID EXCUSE FORM MUST BE PRESENTED TO THE INSTRUCTOR TO QUALIFY FOR A MAKE-UP EXAMINATION. REPORT ILLNESS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR OR TO MS. MEG POTTER IN THE ANIMAL RESOURCE PROGRAM OFFICE (865-1495). MAKE-UP EXAMINATIONS WILL BE ARRANGED PROMPTLY AT A MUTUALLY CONVENIENT TIME FOR THE INSTRUCTOR AND THE INVOLVED STUDENTS. NO MAKE-UP EXAMINATIONS WILL BE GIVEN PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED DATE OF THE EXAMINATION.

ALL CASES OF ACADEMIC DISHONESTY WILL BE HANDLED ACCORDING TO CURRENT UNIVERSITY POLICIES AS OUTLINED IN SECTION 49-20 OF THE PENN STATE STUDENT HANDBOOK.

Required Training:
IACUC Basic Training Seminar: Each person working with animals at Penn State must complete the basic training. The training course is an online auto tutorial. Visit the ORC web site for access to the tutorial ( IACUC Basic Training ). The tutorial includes a quiz that must be passed. You must complete the training and pass the quiz prior to the handling labs.
