The Undergraduate program in Animal BioScience permits students to prepare for admission to a College of Veterinary Medicine or for graduate programs leading to an M.S. or Ph. D degree in animal sciences or the bio-medical sciences. Students who elect to terminate their formal education at the B. S. level are well qualified for employment opportunities in the bio-medical industry. All specific requirements for admission to most U. S. veterinary schools are required in the program.
The academic curriculum of the program permits students to obtain a strong foundation in the basic sciences and complete many of the required general education courses in the first two years. During subsequent years, students enroll in courses that apply the basic sciences to animal biology.
Sufficient unrestricted elective credits are available to permit the student to select a minor course of study or select courses that will provide unique credentials for graduate study or employment opportunities.
Many students select independent study opportunities and internship experiences to enhance their academic program. Students may receive academic credit for participation in both of these activities within established guidelines.
